Window Film Compatibility Checker
Pick your film type, glass, location and goal. Every result traces back to a named manufacturer source — and where the sources don't cover your combination, it says "check the manufacturer's specifications" rather than guess a yes or no.
How this checker works
This is not an AI guess. Each answer is produced by a fixed rule set built from manufacturer instructions, technical bulletins and window-maker warranties. The rules follow a simple priority: glass type first (textured/frosted glass won't hold film; Low-E and double-pane glass are conditional), then location (exterior needs exterior-rated film) and goal (heat/solar film is what triggers the Low-E and double-pane cautions).
Three verdicts are possible: Likely compatible, Not recommended, or Check the film manufacturer's specifications. That last one is deliberate — where no source clearly covers a combination (for example, static-cling film on Low-E glass, which no manufacturer we found addresses directly), the tool refuses to invent a yes/no and points you to the maker instead.
Results are general guidance compiled from the sources below, not a warranty or a substitute for your specific film and window manufacturer's instructions. Glass type (especially tempered vs. annealed, and Low-E coating position) can be hard to identify from the inside — when in doubt, confirm with the film maker or a professional installer.
Source database
Every verdict in the tool cites one or more of these. Primary = manufacturer instruction/spec/FAQ or window-maker warranty; industry = trade association.
